Paediatric health professional moves into the Senate
- Senator Rosemary Moodie is a Jamaican-born graduate from the University of the West Indies. Senator Moodie is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada and American Academy of Pediatrics, and studied pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. In addition to her career in medicine, Moodie has also completed an MBA and a master's degree in public administration.
- Moodie is well-known as a medical leader both nationally and internationally. She specifically focuses her research on women and girls and is particularly interested in minimizing the social inequalities that are found in the health care system. She holds an accreditation as a Canadian hospital surveyor, and has played a major role in making positive changes to health care delivery globally.
