Renée Dupuis

Lawyer, writer and human rights advocate

  • Since 1973, Senator Dupuis has maintained a private practice as a lawyer specializing in administrative law, human rights, and Indigenous law, both at the individual and community level.
  • From 1989 to 1995, she was a commissioner with the Canadian Human Rights Commission. From 2001 to 2009 she was on the Indian Claims Commission, and spent her last six years there as the chief commissioner.
