Professor and expert on migration, diversity and inclusion

  • Senator Ratna Omidvar Immigrated to Canada from Iran in 1981. Prior to her appointment, she was executive director and adjunct professor, as well as founder, of the Global Diversity and Migration Exchange at the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University.
  • Senator Omidvar was executive director and president of Maytree Foundation — an organization that works to advance systemic solutions to poverty and strengthening civic communities — from 1998 to 2014. She founded the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council and DiverseCity on Board, both of which have international acclaim. She is director of the Centre for Mental Health and Addiction (CAMH), the Environics Institute, and Samara. She is Chair of Lifeline Syria.
