  • A dental health services expert and advocate, Senator Mary Jane McCallum began practicing as a dental therapist and community health program manager in northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba after earning diplomas in dental nursing and dental therapy in 1977 and 1979, respectively.
  • McCallum was the first female Indigenous dentist in Canada.
