Gender equality and Indigenous rights advocate

  • Senator Mary Coyle has a storied career with humanitarian organizations and has particularly worked to push for the rights of Indigenous peoples, women's leadership, and gender equality, among others. Among some of her successes are having helped establish the Stephen Lewis Foundation, the Romeo Dallaire Child Soldiers Initiative, and the Indian School of Microfinance for Women.
  • She was the executive director of Calmeadow for 10 years, where she helped establish BancoSol in Bolivia — the world’s first commercial micro finance bank — and the micro loan administering First Peoples Fund for First Nations and Métis communities.
