Physician, professor, and senator
- Before stepping into a career in politics, Senator Marie-Françoise Mégie spent 35 years as a family physician and nearly 30 years as a university professor.
- Mégie was born in Haiti and immigrated to Canada, where she settled in Quebec in 1976. She has been a practicing family physician in Montreal since 1981 as well as a professor in family medicine at the Université de Montreal since 1986. During her medical career, she rose to the role of clinical associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the Université de Montréal.
