Journalist, public servant, and a strong voice for gender equality

  • Senator Miville-Dechêne was a journalist at Radio-Canada, working as a news service and public affairs program correspondent in Washington, Toronto, Ottawa, and Montréal. She covered the constitutional talks, the Oklahoma City bombing, and the US intervention in Haiti.
  • In 2007, she became the first woman appointed to the prestigious position of ombudsperson for Radio-Canada.
