Former minister and MP from Quebec

  • Senator Josée Verner was elected to the House of Commons in 2006 and re-elected in 2008 to represent the riding of Louis-Saint-Laurent. During this time, she held several cabinet portfolios including: minister of international cooperation and minister for La Francophonie; minister of Canadian heritage, status of women and official languages; minister of intergovernmental affairs, as well as minister responsible for the regions of Quebec.
  • Before becoming an MP she was named to the opposition shadow cabinet by Stephen Harper — serving as critic for the Economic Development Agency of Canada, for the regions of Quebec, and for La Francophonie, as well as chair of the Quebec Conservative caucus.
