Josée Forest-Niesing

Lawyer, judge, and proud Franco-Ontarian

  • A lawyer by profession, Senator Forest-Niesing began her career in family law and continued to specialize in estate law, real property law, insurance law, civil law, education law and employment law. In addition, she has been a Superior Court of Justice Small Claims Court judge and a member of several professional associations and committees.
  • She was very involved in the francophone community of the Sudbury area and has volunteered with several organizations related to her profession. She is the founding chair of the Centre canadien de français juridique (CCFJ). She was chair of the board of directors for the Fédération des associations de juristes d’expression française de common law (FAJEF) from 2009 to 2011. She joined the board of the Art Gallery of Sudbury in 2009, was appointed as chair in 2015, and will finish her term in Spring 2018.
