Renowned wheelchair athlete and advocate for people with disabilities
- Senator Chantal Petitclerc, who lost the use of her legs in an accident at age 13, is a renowned wheelchair athlete. She has won numerous gold, silver and bronze medals at the Paralympic, Olympic, and Commonwealth Games, and is a Canadian Paralympic Hall of Fame inductee. She is a past recipient of the Lou Marsh Trophy for Canadian Athlete of the Year.
- Petitclerc is deeply involved in disability awareness and education and is a motivational speaker internationally. She has been a spokesperson for Défi sportif AlterGo for 17 years and also participates as an ambassador for the international organization Right to Play.
